Overview
Project Description
SNV Netherlands Development Organisation implemented urban sanitation initiatives across Bangladesh under the WASH SDG Programme, funded by the Dutch Government (DGIS), in partnership with national and local governments. The programme sought to strengthen the enabling environment for inclusive, sustainable sanitation systems across key urban centers including Gazipur City Corporation (GCC), Jashore, and Benapole. The Formative Research / Consumer Demand Research on Urban Sanitation Behavior Change Communication (BCC) in Gazipur City Corporation aimed to identify behavioral determinants affecting sanitation practices and guide evidence-based BCC strategies for sustainable hygiene behavior. The study assessed household and institutional sanitation practices, focusing on the use and maintenance of improved containment systems, safe fecal sludge management, and hygienic toilet behaviors.
