The Livelihoods Improvement of Urban Poor Communities Project (LIUPCP), funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and implemented by the Local Government Division (LGD) in partnership with UNDP, aimed to achieve sustainable improvements in the livelihoods and living conditions of the urban poor across Bangladesh. The project emphasized inclusive urban governance and participatory planning to strengthen local capacity for addressing urban poverty. To support evidence-based planning and policymaking, UNDP commissioned the preparation of Ward Poverty Atlases and Urban Poverty Profiles (UPP) for nine cities and municipalities. These tools were intended to visualize and analyze the multi-dimensional nature of urban poverty using spatial and socio-economic data. Disaster Management Watch was awarded the contract by UNDP to conduct this assignment. The firm was responsible for designing, analyzing, and producing ward-level poverty maps and city-level poverty profiles. Communication and Development was engaged as a Sub- Consultant to support visualization, communication design, and dissemination of the outputs.
